Cocoon is a total enclosure mattress & bumper system for use where there is a potential or real risk of entrapment or self-harm. It is designed to fit all standard beds in the Nexus range - with either timber or metal siderails (product codes 200-90). A deeper version for use with extended siderails is also available. With Cocoon fitted, the range of backlift and leglift adjustment of the bed is limited.
Any standard sized mattress from the Pro-Mat range will fit snugly inside the Cocoon and it is even designed for use with a dynamic mattress, such as the Optima 'no-ripple' air-float system.
To meet current regulations governing emergency evacuation procedures, Cocoon now incorporates lifting / drag handles at each end together with straps to hold a patient securely inside to facilitate speedy & safe evacuation.
The cover has a minimum 50 newton tear strength, is vapour permeable and can be washed at 90 degrees centigrade, dry cleaned and tumble-dried on a low setting. The surface is protected against fungi & bacteria and conforms to fire retardancy (CRIBB 5 on CMHR foam).
